The Cisco Police Department has an opening for a full time patrol officer position. The City of Cisco has a population of 3899 and covers approximately 4.9 square miles with a new housing development and roadways set for annexation along Lake Cisco in early 2020. The Cisco Police Department has a staff of 10 full time officers, 1 code enforcement officer, 1 animal control officer and 1 administrative assistant. We are looking for an experienced officer to compliment our staff, however we are willing to train the right academy graduate. The patrol officer is responsible for call response, criminal patrol, initial investigations, crash investigations and traffic enforcement in town and on Interstate 20. Our officers are expected to be pro-active with enforcement and within the community by participating in the community policing concept and our annual community outreach programs.
The City of Cisco offers the following pay and benefits for the patrol officer position:
Probationary pay: $18.00 per hour.
Pay after 6 month probationary period: $18.37 per hour ($38,209.60 Annually)
Certificate pay is available after probation, up to $2,400 annually.
Full medical, dental and vision plans are provided to the employee at no cost through the city, with no waiting period for coverage to begin.
If you live within the city limits, you may be eligible for a take home vehicle.
For the current budget year, the city offers 16 paid holidays.
Hours over 80 for the pay period may be taken as overtime or you may accrue comp time.
Overtime opportunities are available through the department's 2020 TXDOT Comprehensive STEP Grant.
Uniforms, duty weapons and less lethal equipment options are issued by the department.
The police department operates with the CopSync Records Management System with in-car and office applications.
Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age at the time of application with the city.
Must be a United States Citizen
Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Two years of previous peace officer experience is desired.
Must already have a Texas peace officer license through TCOLE, in good standing.
If unlicensed, you must have graduated a TCOLE approved academy or are preparing to graduate.
Must not have been convicted of any class A or B misdemeanor offense within the last 10 years.
Must not have been convicted of any grade felony offense.
Must not have been convicted of any offense involving family violence.
Must not have had a driver license suspension within the last 5 years.
Must have or be able to obtain a Class C Texas driver license upon employment.
Must be able to meet the physical demands of being a police officer.
Must be able to pass the TCOLE required medical physical, psychological and drug screen.
Must be able to pass a vision test with a colorblindness screening.
Must be able to participate in and successfully complete a FTO program. Officers with previous experience may participate in an abbreviated FTO program.
The process after the applications are submitted will be:
An initial review of the application and personal history statement with initial background check.
An invitation to attend an oral review board.
A complete background check.
A conditional job offer contingent on passing the background check and satisfactory results from the physical, psychological and drug screening.
